Are You Ready to Take the Next Step with LinkedIn?
Have you been watching my videos or reading my posts about LinkedIn, but you still haven’t taken action, or you aren’t seeing the progress you want to see?
Hi, I’m Allison Johs from Legal Ease Consulting, and one of the things I do in my practice is to help lawyers and other professionals maximize their use of LinkedIn as a platform for building their professional reputation, marketing their practice, and making meaningful connections with potential clients, referral sources, and others.
You may have seen my videos, read my posts, participated in one of my webinars, or heard me speak on a podcast. Maybe you’ve implemented one or two of the tips you’ve heard, but you’d like to do more.
If this sounds like you and you are ready to take the next step, you’re in the right place! Check out these options for how I can help you use LinkedIn to reach your professional goals:
- One-on-one LinkedIn coaching
- Group LinkedIn training
- LinkedIn Profile content writing
- Create a LinkedIn plan
One-on-one LinkedIn coaching
Whether you’re brand-new to LinkedIn, haven’t used it in a while, or just want to take your LinkedIn use to the next level, one-on-one LinkedIn coaching can help. Working one-on-one, we can define your goals for using LinkedIn, get clear on your target audience, establish a professional LinkedIn presence, develop strategies for how to build your network, decide what to post, when, and how, and create a plan for how you will participate on LinkedIn through interacting with and sharing others’ content, posting your own content, participating in Groups, and more.
Each lawyer’s background, experience, training, and client base is different, and each lawyer has different strengths and weaknesses. Individual coaching can address these differences by determining the specific target audience or audiences each lawyer is trying to reach, the messages that will resonate with these specific audiences, and the best ways to reach those audiences on LinkedIn taking the individual lawyer’s strengths into account.
Although some of the work of maintaining a LinkedIn presence can be delegated to others, to use LinkedIn effectively, it is imperative that each lawyer understand how the platform works, particularly if the firm’s clients or potential clients are LinkedIn users. Relationship building cannot be fully turned over to others; just as one must attend in-person events and make connections oneself, one must also participate in managing one’s own online relationships.
Sessions can address each of the three building blocks of LinkedIn: Profiles, Connections, and Participation. The Profile addresses what should be contained in the LinkedIn Profile and how best to showcase individual or firm knowledge and experience. Connections addresses strategies for connecting with others on LinkedIn, how to find people to connect with, and how to communicate with connections on LinkedIn. Participation covers liking, commenting on and sharing others’ posts, creating posts and articles, and joining and participating in Groups on LinkedIn.
Individual LinkedIn training sessions permit the lawyer to ask questions, tailor their own LinkedIn profiles, and to maximize their connections. This will be a “hands-on” session that will provide personalized advice and action steps that can be implemented immediately.
Group LinkedIn Training
Involved in a group or organization that could use LinkedIn training for several of its members, employees, attorneys or staff? I can provide group training on how to use LinkedIn as a networking and business development tool. Typically, this training focuses on the three building blocks of LinkedIn: Profile, Connections and Participation. The program can be tailored to the needs of your organization; we can also spend some time discussing settings, navigating around LinkedIn, and ethics rules that lawyers should be mindful of when using LinkedIn.
A typical training program might look something like this:
Introduction
- How LinkedIn is different than other social media platforms
- Defining your goals for LinkedIn
- Navigation and Settings
- Ethics Rules overview
Building Block #1 – Profile
- How lawyers can personalize and maximize their LinkedIn Profiles to showcase their individuality and their expertise
- Creating a professional LinkedIn cover image
- Developing a descriptive professional headline that captures attention
- Writing your LinkedIn About and Experience sections to highlight your experience and stand out from the crowd
- Adding other elements to your LinkedIn Profile
- Endorsements and Recommendations
- Enhancing your LinkedIn Profile with multi-media elements and new features (images, video, documents, presentations and more)
Building Block #2 – Connections
- How to strategically find and make connections on LinkedIn
- Effectively sending and accepting LinkedIn invitations
- Making the most of your LinkedIn connections
- Using LinkedIn to advance real-world relationships
Building Block #3 – Participation
- Participating on LinkedIn to get noticed, develop new relationships and build a reputation as a leader in your field
- What to post, when, and how
- How and why to use the LinkedIn Publisher platform
- Choosing and using LinkedIn Groups effectively
Help writing the content for your LinkedIn Profile
Need help writing your LinkedIn Profile? If you want help deciding what belongs in your Profile or prefer to have someone else write each section for you, I am here to help. While I won’t log in to your LinkedIn account for you (that is a violation of LinkedIn’s rules), I can write a draft of your profile content and send it to you in a Word document that you can cut and paste into LInkedIn.
Typically, we’d start with a short call to discuss your goals and your audience for LinkedIn, and I’ll gather some information from you to develop the draft.
Create a LinkedIn plan
If you’re more of a self-starter, DIY-type, but you don’t know how to start or want some guidance on how to get the most out of LinkedIn, we can work together to create a plan of attack for LinkedIn. That plan could include anything from how you plan to improve your profile, to a strategy for adding connections to your LinkedIn network, to deciding which Groups to join on LinkedIn, and what and how to post, all customized to you, based on your audience, your goals, and your schedule.
